_Larry Scarpa

Lawrence Scarpa, FAIA,  principal from Brooks + Scarpa

BSU Lecture Series  _ Monday, November 14, 1 p.m. _ AB100

_ topic: “Test Patterns”.

Scarpa has been described as a young architect with a striking, original voice, backed by years of experience on large, complex buildings, both in the US and abroad. Named 2004 Emerging Voice in Architecture by the new York Architectural League, the 2004 Friedman Fellow at the University of California at Berkeley, and the 2005 Max Fisher Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Scarpa’s work includes broad experience in numerous building types and scales, including sustainable design for affordable and mixed-use housing, as well as design for the arts and entertainment communities.  Scarpa’s approach to architecture, while deeply rooted in the tenets of the modern tradition, also is forging a new path – that architecture can have a transformative influence on people by providing an environment that engenders freedom of thought, creativity and curiosity.
